Dr. Laurence Dorman has been practicing podiatric medicine in the Kendall area for 27 years. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York, but after visiting some family in Florida as a college student, the milder climate attracted Dr. Dorman to someday return to the Sunshine State. Today, he treats all aspects of podiatric medicine and regularly performs podiatric surgery in Miami. Dr. Dorman particularly enjoys treating children with foot and ankle pain, as well as dealing with sports medicine cases.
Dr. Dorman graduated from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1979. While in school, he also served as the National Co-chair for the American Podiatric Medical Students’ Association and Dr. Dorman provided testimony to the Director of the National Health Service Corps, which resulted in the first scholarships for podiatry students in this program. Directly following graduation, Dr. Dorman completed a one-year residency in New England, rotating between treating patients in the Boston area and in central Massachusetts. After finishing his residency, Dr. Dorman practiced in the Boston area for two years and then returned to Haverstraw, New York, where he practiced for four years. Then, Dr. Dorman headed south to Miami and opened his practice, where he has been working for the past two decades. Currently, Dr. Dorman is also an Adjunct Professor at Barry University's College of Podiatric Medicine.
“I’ve enjoyed the fact that as a podiatrist, we can often give immediate relief to a patient,” Dorman says. “There are no other medical specialties that can treat a foot and ankle problem as successfully as we do.”
