BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Julie Schottenstein is Board Certified and fellowship trained with a focus on reconstructive rearfoot surgery and trauma. Additionally, Dr. Schottenstein is a Board Certified Independent Medical Examiner experienced in dealing with Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury patients, as well as performing Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs).
Dr. Schottenstein, a native Miamian, completed her undergraduate studies at Boston University. She went on to earn a Master’s degree from Barry University in Biomedical Sciences before graduating in the top 10 percent of her class with her Doctorate degree from Barry University’s School of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Schottenstein then completed an extensive three year surgical residency, specializing in foot and ankle reconstruction at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Miami, Florida. During residency training, Dr. Schottenstein received advanced training in foot and ankle reconstruction, trauma, sports medicine, diabetic limb salvage, and wound care.
Following residency, Dr. Schottenstein completed her Fellowship training in advanced Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery, and she now serves as clinical faculty for the fellowship program. Dr. Schottenstein holds a clinical faculty position for five different podiatry residency programs. She is also clinical faculty for podiatry for the Emergency Medicine Residency program at Aventura Hospital
Dr. Schottenstein holds medical staff positions at Mercy Hospital, Jackson North Medical Center, Aventura Hospital, Memorial Regional, Memorial Regional South, Memorial Pembroke, memorial Hospital West, Westside Regional Hospital, Plantation General Hospital, and Weston Outpatient Surgical Center. She has professional society memberships with the Florida Podiatric Medical Association, American Podiatric Medical Association, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine.
Dr. Schottenstein has two office locations to offer her services to patients in both Miami-Dade and Broward county. She offers Stem Cell and PRP injections in her office. She also performs several minimally invasive surgeries, including the mini-bunion procedure which corrects bunions with tiny incisions, and allows patients to walk right after the surgery. She lives in Miami with her husband and two children.
